About Us

Frankie, Mat and the team from Eat the Street took over the Royal Oak, Midhurst in March this year. With an extensive knowledge of events and in the hospitality industry, we felt that this pub was the perfect platform for us to grow our business and with such beautiful and large gardens, the ideal location to bring more of an events focus to the pub.

We offer a fresh, seasonal kitchen and garden menu, and have ample space to accomodate both small and large groups alike.

Our beautiful 17th century pub is situated just outside the town of Midhurst, nestled in the South Downs national park, perfectly placed if you are looking to set off to explore the miles of footpaths and bridlepaths that lead you into the heart of the South Downs.

We are just around the corner from Goodwood, and our extensive gardens will play host to regular events during the various festivals throughout the year.

We really want to make the Royal Oak a part of the community and a relaxed, fun meeting place, with a focus on delicious local, seasonal produce.

What's going on at The Royal Oak

The safety of our customers and staff is of paramount importance to us. In line with the most recent government Covid-19 guidelines we will continue to offer full table service for those inside, and use of our ordering app for those outside. If you are having difficulty with the tech please alert a member of staff who will be happy to help you. There will be no ordering at the bar, and we would ask that customers respect the rules around wearing masks when they enter the building and when moving around the pub. We are not able to take bookings of more than 6 people at this time.

October:

The infamous Pit Stop will be back for October half term – eat in or takeaway. We will have plenty of Pumpkins on hand for the kids to carve in our Spooky Hollow, as well as Halloween treats.

StopTober! There will be no need to stay away from the pub, we will have an amazing selection of alcohol-free beers, spirits and cocktails available for those who are kicking the booze this October, and beyond!

December:

It’s that time of year again, the clock is ticking, the countdown has begun! That’s right Christmas is coming, make sure you book early for your festive parties or Christmas Day lunch. We will be taking bookings for parties of all sizes, and can then adjust this based on government guidelines nearer the time. Any questions please give us a call.

We both had the fish and chips and have never tasted such amazing beer batter, so light and crispy. For dessert we had the apple tarte tatin which was served with very creamy, vanilla ice cream. "After hearing the Royal Oak had a new owner and landlady we decided to call in for a pint and try one of their famous burgers and fat chips. We were greeted immediately by friendly staff behind the bar. A young, welcoming and well trained team didn't disappoint us. The local beer is a great pint. Our meal came out circa 10 mins after we ordered. Very generous portions, cooked perfectly with a dressed green salad. During our stay, four of their busy staff engaged and asked us if we needed anything and if we enjoyed our meal. There is plenty of space to distance, the beer, food and service is second to none. Great pub, great value, great staff, attentive manager. We will definitely make this pub a regular in future"
